Stakeholders interviews in User Experience

Stakeholder interviews provide valuable insights into the needs, expectations, and goals of each stakeholder involved in the product. This information allows for better alignment between the product objectives and stakeholder requirements, minimizing potential conflicts and ensuring a smoother development process. Additionally, by involving stakeholders early on, you can establish a sense of ownership and collaboration, leading to increased buy-in and support throughout the project lifecycle.

Who can be a stakeholder?

  • An individual with a stake in the project.
  • The Stakeholder team is made up of the CEO, CTO, Marketing Head, CFO, Product Manager, Sales Team Head, and Project Manager.
  • Some of these participants have a direct connection to your project. If you make a mistake as a UX designer, it might have an immediate impact on the CEO of the business.

How do I conduct a stakeholder interview?

  1. Prepare a list of people you are inviting for an interview.
  2.  Understand their preferences before starting the interview.
  3. Have a ready set of questions .
  4. Have a pen and notebook on hand.
  5. Instead of speaking , exercise active listening.
  6. During the meeting, avoid offering any solutions.

What type of question can you ask?

  1. What is the purpose of the project?
  2. Objective they want to achieve from the product.
  3. Is there any competitor available in the market for this project?
  4. Is the same type of product already available in  the market?
  5. Any technical limitation with the product.
  6. Gola, Needs , motivations, and pain points ( if it is an existing product)
  7. You can ask if there are any specific requirements for this product.
  8. What is the desired outcome or value expected from this product.
  9. What is the timeline and milestones for development and launch?
  10. How will feedback and user testing be incorporated into the process?
  11. What is the plan for future iterations and updates?
  12. How will user satisfaction and engagement be tracked and evaluated.
  13. Ask as many questions as you want.

As soon as you’re finished with the stakeholder interviews, you can start creating your report. Don’t forget to distribute the report to all stakeholders.
