An IT business analyst is a person who works as a mediator between the technical and the business. He analyzes the existing system and recommends solutions. He talks from the perspective of Information technology. He is responsible for analyzing the existing/new systems from different perspectives, recommending solutions, and aligning the IT part of the overall business with the strategic initiatives of the organization.
Tasks performed by IT business analyst
- Identify the scope of the problem.
- Discussion with stakeholders and understand the exact requirements.
- Understand the problem, do your research, and find out the gaps.
- Create a document with exact needs and convert that into functional and nonfunctional requirements.
- Prepare BRD, used cases document, system requirement specification document user stories, scenarios, project vision, flow diagram, etc.
- According to requirements, prepare Information architecture, wireframes, and Prototypes.
- Interact with the development team and help them understand the technical aspect of the problem with all used cases.
- Check the development going by doing regular meetings or daily scrum meeting
- Do usability testing and functional testing. Ask the team what needs to be tested.
- Present the solution to stakeholders and concerned people.
- Test it on a staging environment with internal users.
- Do the changes.
- Deploy on production.
In addition to the above skills, you should know data understanding, Google Analytics, Software development methodology, and various testing methods.
